BIBLE STUDY
Notes, observations and comments

PREFACE
We are here because…choose your own reason. I believe there is a power, presence, province – a god - that has created the universe and that we, humans on planet earth, are merely an infinitesimally small part thereof and we are here for only an equally tiny span of time.
Scientists claim the earth is billions of years old and it most likely is. The explanation might be that, according to the Bible: G-d created the heavens and earth in three days. He didn’t make the sun until the fourth day. Thus, those first “days” could have been billions of years long – time for another “god” to develop the planet earth, a sun, dinosaurs and “pre-historic” man in his image. That first sun could have burned out killing all inhabitants…then along comes our G_d? To carry this to its logical conclusion, perhaps a god created the occupants of UFOs/spaceships who have conquered the 4th dimension (and 5th, 6th 7th….), thus enabling these advanced aliens to engage in tourist trips to view us and other planets. In other words, if our G-d could create us, He or another god, could originate them.
The opinions and observations tendered in this treatise are based on my reading of the Bible’s Old Testament, The Torah, and as a 6th generation American Jew.

SELECT, BRIEF BIBLICAL TIMELINE
Hebrew/Jewish Year One (3761 BCE) G_d creates heaven, earth and light and Adam & Eve in Canaan (later called Palestine and now identified as present-day Israel).
Hebrew/Jewish year 1600 (2100 BCE) +/- G_d tells Abraham (the first Hebrew/Jew) his seed – his descendants - are to be the leaders of the world if they keep the covenant that all male children are circumcised. In addition, G_d promises all the land of Canaan to His Chosen People.
Hebrew/Jewish year 2500 (1400 BCE) +/- Abraham’s descendant, Moses, after leading his people out of Egyptian bondage and then receiving the 10-Commandments, arrives at the Promised Land (then called Canaan).
Hebrew/Jewish year 3100 (600 BCE) +/- Muhammad, a man born in the city of Mecca, located in present day Saudia Arabia, believes he hears directly from G_d. His teachings/prophecies become the Quran, and his followers are called Muslims.
Hebrew/Jewish year 3200 (500 BCE) +/- The first recorded notation identifying Palestine/Israel is by Greek historians who referred to this land as Palestine without acknowledging the difference between Canaanites, Palestinians and The Chosen People/Hebrews/Jews.
Hebrew/Jewish year 3800 (1 BCE/CE) +/- Jesus Christ, a Hebrew, is born in Canaan/Palestine. He is heralded as a son of G_d, a Messiah – though there is no direct biblical promise from G_d of sending a messiah.
Hebrew/Jewish year 5709 (1948 CE) The United Nations recognizes a portion of the land of Canaan/Palestine as the Jewish State of Israel. War breaks out and continues today.
Hebrew/Jewish year 5786 (2025 CE) Wars are fought between those who believe they are the good and their enemy is the evil/bad. The people/citizens of Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, America… support their warriors. Warriors are the extension of the people they represent, i.e., the people are each other’s enemy – each side believing they are the good guys. The unification of Hamas, Hezbollah, Iranians, Palestinians, “radical Islamics” is their commonality of Islam. They subscribe to the teaching of the Quran which does not allow for any other religion. (Islam means submission to G_d. Muslims are those who practice Islam). Worldwide, there are over 2-Billion Islamic/Muslims – a fourth of the planet’s population and the second largest religion.
I BOOKS
A) GENESIS:
G_d . . .
Day 1: Created heaven and earth and light
Day 2: Divides water and firmament
Day 3: Creation of grass, fruit, trees
Day 4: Synchronizes the sun and moon - Hebrew/Jewish year one
Day 5: Creates fish and fowl
Day 6: Creates Man and places him in Eden.
Day 7: G_d rests and hallows the 7th day.
B) EXODUS:
Moses leads his people out of Egypt after G_d brings plagues on the Egyptians. G_d decrees the 10 Commandments to Moses who leads his people to the Promised Land – known as Canaan. G_d then orders all the Canaanites killed. They are not.
1) Perhaps, the G_d of Abraham told the people living in Canaan (Canaanites) to make way for the new inhabitants and they ignored Him, thus He ordered them killed?
2) One of the 10-Commandments clearly states: “Thou shall have no other G_d”. Is the G_d of Abraham and Moses admitting there are other gods?
3) Is the violence against Israel, today, the result of these Chosen People not obeying G_d’s demand to kill all the Canaanites ?
4) Are the Canaanites today’s Palestinians?
C) LEVITICUS:
Most of this book is details of how sacrifices shall be made and procedures for being clean. A lot of "shall not" laws. These are law/rules that are man-made, not ordered by G_d. G_d says we, the children of Israel, will be a Kingdom of Priests - a holy Nation.
D) NUMBERS:
G_d is male: All references are to "he," "him," or other such male gender pronouns. The amount of burnt offerings the Lord orders is staggering. It is unclear to whom G_d gives this order. It might be man’s hope to declare G_d demanded these offerings as man’s excuse for man’s failings. In other words, it might have been man who created the need for burnt offerings believing these sacrifices will please G_d and/or absolve man of his transgressions?
E) DEUTERONOMY:
Moses dies after leading his people to the Jordan River. He is not permitted to cross because he trespassed against G_d. He, at the instructions of G_d, appoints Joshua, son of Nun, as the new leader. So far, nothing about the afterlife has been mentioned. The 1st four books appear to be of three components: Genealogy of the Hebrew people; G_d’s promises/covenants and what G_d will do if the covenants are not adhered to.
F) JOSHUA:
[Though this is not part of the Torah (first five books), I make reference to it because I believe it is a significant part of Jewish history insofar as it records the occupying and physically settling and establishing - The Promised Land - what is today’s Nation of Israel.]
After the death of Moses, G_d dries up the River Jordan so as Joshua can lead the Israelites into the Promised Land (Canaan) – the modern-day Nation of Israel. At G_d's instruction, on many raids of cities and towns, including Jericho, G_d orders the warriors to kill all the inhabitants of Canaan. The sun stands still as Joshua leads the warriors. He does not kill all the inhabitants. Joshua builds the alter for the covenant of the ark and writes a copy of the law of Moses. The ark is located between Mt. Gerizim and Mt. Ebac. Joshua divides the land between the 12 tribes.
II PEOPLE OF THE BIBLE
* Abram is the first Hebrew - first mentioned in Genesis. Also noted in Deuteronomy, and is renamed Abraham by G_d. Abram is the son of Terah; his siblings are: Nahor and Haran. All went to live in the land of Canaan.
* Haran is father of Lot. Lot goes to live in Sodom with his wife who is turned into a pillar of salt when she looks back at Sodom and Gomorrah - after an angel told them to leave and not look back.
* Abraham is married to Sarah (renamed by G_d from Sarai). Sarah is barren so she bade him to lay with her handmaid, an Egyptian named Hagar, who bore Abraham a son a, Ishmael (forefather of Muhammad). Abraham was 86 years old.
* G_d makes a covenant with Abraham when he is 90. The Covenant is that “Every male of your seed shall be circumcised on the 8th day of birth and I [G_d] shall be your G_d.” In return Abraham, and his seed, will get all the land of Canaan (modern-day Israel).
* At the insistence of Sarah, Abraham casts handmaid Hagar and her son, Ishmael, out. Sarah then bores Abraham a son, Isaac. Born when Abraham is 99 years old. Sarah dies. Abraham takes another wife, Keturah (they have six children).
* G_d commands Abraham to take his son, Isaac, and make a burnt offering. When no lamb is found, Abraham prepares to offer his son, but is stopped by the Lord who is impressed that Abraham is G_d-fearing.
* Abraham has a servant take Isaac to the city of Nahor to find a wife for him. He sees Rebekah, daughter of Milcah, wife of Nahor (sister of Abraham). Rebekah has a brother, Laban.
* Isaac and Rebekah have twin boys, Esau (the hunter), the first born, and Jacob. The Lord told her that the twins are two nations, separate people and the first born shall serve the younger.
* Isaac sends Jacob to Canaan for a wife. He arrives at the house of Laban, Rebekah's brother. He falls in love with Rachel, but because she was younger than her sister, Leah. Laban says Jacob must labor 7 years before he can marry Rachel. At the end of 7 years, Laban gives him Leah. The son of Jacob and Leah, Levi, is the forefather of Moses. Laban also says if he labors 7 more years, he will then give him Rachel. He marries both, in addition to marrying handmaidens Bilhan and Zilpah.
* G_d renames Jacob: ISRAEL. Israel, as in "Hear O Israel" is not the nation or country of Israel, per se, but the seed of Jacob, i.e., all descendants (seed) of Jacob - all Jews.
* Joseph, son of Rachel/Jacob, is sold by his brothers to Egypt. G_d comes to him and gives him the power to interpret dreams. He is called to interpret Pharos’s (King of Egypt) dreams. He tells of 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine. He is put in charge of hording food for the coming famine. When it comes, he is able to not only save Egypt, but his family and those in Canaan (Jews). Joseph ignored the opportunity for revenge against the people who had forsaken him by including them in the distribution of the horded food. Was this not the first example of turn-the-other-cheek moral, ethical and charitable Jewish behavior? Now, however, all the Jews are in Egypt and become enslaved by the Pharos. Joseph marries an Egyptian and has two sons. The 12 tribes of Israel are the 12 sons of Jacob.
* Jesus: Jacob’s son Judah - forty plus generations later (over 1000 years) - is the forefather of Joseph, husband of Mary. In a dream, Joseph is visited by an angel who tells him that the Holy Ghost has conceived, in Mary, a son whose name will be Jesus. Jesus grows into manhood; he labors as a carpenter until the age of 30 when he is baptized by John the Baptist. His followers, now called Christians, abandoned the covenant (circumcision) for baptism. The Romans controlled Palestine and, fearing the power of a Messiah, killed Jesus. Ironically, it wasn’t until about 300 years after the death of Jesus that the very people who had murdered him, the Romans, became followers and through their Crusades encouraged/forced a significantly larger following of Christianity.
However, those who refused to follow Him, Hebrews/Jews, were blamed for His crucifixion thus, beginning almost 2000 years of persecution against Hebrews/Jews. Officially this persecution waned after the Pope (Second Vatican Council, 1962–1965 CE) confirmed that it was the Romans and not the Jews who killed Jesus. All Christians and Jews are descended from Isaac and Jacob to Abraham. Jesus most significant impact was dividing His own people – those who followed Him became Christians while those adhering to the Covenant remained Hebrews/Jews.
III JEWS and CHRISTIANS
Their Similarities, Differences & History:
A) SIMILARITIES.:
Jews and Christians are one in the same inasmuch as we all share and believe:
1) There is only one G_d, the G_d of Abraham, and he is all-knowing and all-powerful.
2) The Old Testament of the Bible and all that it contains:
3) The Ten Commandments. These Judeo-Christian Values are the basis for our common moral and ethical aspirations;
a) The concept of reward and punishment both on earth and in the hereafter;
b) We both have Holy symbols and words - words we live/pray by; CHRISTIANS Symbol: The Cross. Words: “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit/Ghost.”
JEWS Symbol: Star of David. Words: “Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our G_d, The Lord is one” (Hebrew: Schema Yisraeil: Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad).
B) DIFFERENCES:
Christians believe the Messiah (Jesus Christ) has already come to earth. Whereas the Jews do not believe He was a messiah. Jews don't deny there was such a person as Jesus - a Jewish man, a prophet. In the Bible, there is no direct promise from G-d of a messiah. This difference may be insignificant because the Christians believe Jesus will return and, when he does, he may then be accepted as the Messiah by all (since no one knows what he looks like).
Jews only accept the Old Testament, Genesis thru Deuteronomy, called The Torah. Christians, in addition to the Old Testament, believe the New Testament is part of the Bible.
C) WHAT/WHO WE ARE
1) A Jew is anyone who is born of the seed of a Jewish father or one who has professed/acknowledged/claimed they are a Jew. Contrarily, if your enemy believes you are a Jew - regardless of whether or not you are Jewish – you’re a Jew. Though Jews accept the existence of Jesus, the prophet, they see themselves as the direct heirs of the covenant God made with Abraham. Jews/Hebrews believe this bond is eternal and binding; it is not superseded or replaced. From a Jewish perspective, Christianity is a separate religion that emerged and diverged with the arrival of Jesus. A Jew is one who believes in the historical teachings of the Jewish people, i.e., they descended from Abraham through Issac and Jacob… and the State of Israel is their homeland as promised by G d to Abraham. Jews are keepers of the Covenant.
2) A Christian is a person who accepts the teaching of Jesus. Though the Old Testament does not contain any promise from G-d to deliver a Messiah, they believe Jesus is The Messiah and Jesus is the Son of G-d. All Christians have one central belief in common… the Gospel… the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as atonement for sins. They are Hebrews inasmuch as they also trace their lineage to Abraham and his wife, Sarah, through Jacob and Issac and continue to accept the G_d of Abraham as their G_d.
D) DIFFERENT BRANCHES OF JEWISH PRACTICES:
There are basically four slightly different branches of the Jewish faith; Jews do not have a single leader, one who speaks for all:
ULTRA ORTHODOX: They live the Old Testament, literally. They practice separation of men and women in the synagogue, wear only black clothes, fully comply with the Sabbath and strictly observe the dietary laws including the slaughter of animals for sacrifices.
ORTHODOX: Very religious. They closely follow the Old Testament, excluding animal sacrifices.
CONSERVATIVE: Not a well-defined contingent. Some congregations read most of their prayers in Hebrew, some comply with not working on the Sabbath or other rules. Their religious practices are a compromise between the extremes of the Orthodox and Reform.
REFORM: The Reform movement was developed less than 200 years ago. The reason for this breakaway from a stricter life was mostly to allow the American Jews to assimilate - to get along better with their Christian neighbors - without giving up their faith.
E) THERE ARE MANY SECTS OF CHRISTIANITY, INCLUDING:
ROMAN CATHOLICS: One of the oldest Christian faiths dating to about 200 c.e. The head of the church is called the Pope and their headquarters are in Rome;
EPISCOPAL: The U.S. Protestant church historically related to the Church of England;
BAPTISTS: A Christian denomination that baptism should be given only to believers after confession of faith and by immersion rather than sprinkling of water. Followers of John the Baptist;
PRESBYTERIANS: Followers of 16th Century Protestant Reformation leader John Calvin;
MORMON, AMISH, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE, JEHOVAH'S WITNESS, METHODIST and others (some Christians don’t acknowledge these faiths as true Christians believing them to be cults).
F) PERSECUTION:
1) Beginning with the Nazi regime, a Jew was one whose mother was Jewish – as it was easier to connect a child to his/her mother than to a father. Jews have been persecuted for over 2000 years. Why it continues today appears to be consciously, subconsciously or scape-goatism, a Catch-22 - Jews might be hated due to the complexity of simple jealousy and fear. Jealously due to their success and feared because they are successful.
Jews have always been noted for their accomplishments in business, medicine, law, arts and science while overcoming subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle bias such as when refused entry into country clubs, business associations, hospitals… they established their own. The fear – unfounded and unsubstantiated – is that these very talented, educated, intelligent peoples were/are aspiring/conspiring to take over the world. It’s been 125+ years since publication of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion - a book that first prophesized a scheme and collusion that Jews were plotting to take over the world. It hasn’t happened and with the Jews split among themselves into sects a Jewish take-over isn’t likely going to happen by this tiny number (0.02% world-wide) of the world population.
None of us are perfect. All humans, individually or in groups - from the Garden of Eden to today - have, at times, failed our fellow man. Surely, where Jews and Christians are concerned better efforts could have been made to live up to the Ten Commandants. For example: The Jews might have united behind Jesus and protected him from the Romans - whether they believed him to be the Messiah or not. The Christians could have been a better model than what was exhibited during The Inquisition. If we are to survive as a people, we must all learn from past unJudeo-Christian behavior.
2) Though both religions have experienced their share of persecution, today they share a common threat. Christians and Jews must be united in their efforts to protect themselves against another religious group – Muslims – as they have made it clear they intend to destroy us by converting us to their faith or by killing us.
G) GUARDIAN ANGELS:
1) Not a religious matter, per se, many Jews and Christians firmly believe spirits/angels not only exist but are active in our lives. This guardian angel might be our conscience – that inner voice that tells us right from wrong.
2)The devil may be inborn due to Eve’s eating the apple in the Garden of Eden and thus guardian angels are in a constant battle to keep the soul righteous.
IV CONFLICTING ISSUES
Raised By The Ten Commandments:
1) For Christians and Jews, the 10-Commandents are the basis for all conduct - there were no enforcement provisions - it was assumed that violators would be punished by G_d. However, when people realized He didn’t punish everyone for transgressions (in-the-flesh world) they violated these edicts. Then, man began codifying laws to punish violators who were not being punished by G-d in the in-the-flesh world. In other words, man defined sin and dispenses punishment as man sees fit.
2) In the very beginning, G_d made Adam and Eve and they had three sons. Two of these three men proceeded to produce many children. Where did their wives come from? The Bible doesn't say G_d DID or DIDN'T make other people or that Eve produced other children - female(s), of which at least one (a sister?) married Cain and Seth. Or, were the other people, such as Canaanites and/or other races and/or those on other continents created by another god? Did our G_d make other people? Or did a different god/gods make people in their god’s image, i.e., Africans, Orientals, Indians…?
3) One of the Commandments says: “Thou shall have no other G_d . . . .” Is this an acknowledgement by our G_d there are other gods? Christians and Jews believe: There is only one G_d and he is all-knowing and all-powerful. Other peoples, Buddhist, for example, have their own god, they call Buddha. Are they worshiping the wrong god? Or, are we?
4) The 6th Commandment has a major difference of agreement between the Jew's Torah and the King James (and other) versions of the Old Testament. In the Torah, the Commandment is not to commit murder, while in some non-Jewish bibles it is written “Thou shalt not kill.” Is this significant difference due to interpretation and/or the result of copying the bible from one language to another? If due to semantics, what else was translated differently…
a) The “words” of the Ten Commandments could have been only hieroglyphics - a hard-to-understand series of pictures?
b) The Bible is a historical accounting of the human race as we know it. Its history was passed - verbally - human to human for thousands of years before the first printing press recorded these stories. The people living and passing these events along did not have a dictionary and thus the meaning of words could have changed over time. The question is: What meanings and events have been changed due to semantics, re-telling inaccuracies or to adjust for the political correctness of the times?
c) Kill/Murder seems to be committed by or ordered by G_d himself in many instances. What does this say about living the Ten Commandments today? Are they commandments or mere suggestions?
5) We – all Christians and Jews - are descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham, the first Jew (Hebrew) lived in Canaan (modern day Israel). Muslims don’t deny the miraculous birth of Jesus and that he was a prophet, but they reject the belief that he was G-d in a human body. Muslims worship the same G-d as Hebrews/Christians and trace their linage to Abraham…but through Hagar, his wife’s servant. Mohammad, the founder of Islam, is their descendent.
6) When Moses leads his people to the Promised Land, he is under G_d's orders to take this land from those who are living there, the Canaanites, and to kill them all. What does this say about a G_d who hands down a set of commandments forbidding murder/killing and then ordering the extermination of a entire people? Today, the Palestinians claim this land. Are they the descendants of the Canaanites? Were the Canaanites made by a different G_d? If G_d was the G_d of all people – including Canaanites – why would He order His own people annihilated? What about these Canaanites, do they have the right to this land?
V OTHER OBSERVATIONS/QUESTIONS:
1) Is the G_d of the Israelites unforgiving, jealous and vengeful? In Genesis it was clear that G_d made man in his own image. G_d's image could be described as one of vengeance, jealousy and spite. Does today’s man mirror this image? He kills many of those made in His image, including some of The Chosen People. Warmongering is evident by his orders to kill all in the promised land. Times were not easy for the Hebrews, first they were slaves to the Pharaoh only to become slaves to a vengeful, jealous and unforgiving G_d. If G-d created all persons and creatures, why would he kill his creations or order the killing of so many persons and innocent sacrificial animals? Perhaps, they are ones created by other gods?
2) The seed of the man determines the race (religion) of the child - regardless of who the mother is. It is clear that the power and emphasis is on the male offspring. The evidence is in the Lord telling Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply, but all other times he only tells the males to go forth and multiply. Of the number of people listed in the Bible, with very few exceptions, all are men. The Lord talks about the "seed" of the male to propagate the Hebrews. Further, reference is made almost exclusively to males. The most conclusive evidence is that Jacob’s sons by Egyptian handmaids are 4 of the 12 tribes of Israel. Moses talks of how G_d "[He] loved thy fathers, and chose they seed...to give thee their land for an inheritance....". Also, G_d tells the Hebrews that if they conquer an enemy, they may take a wife of the captives. Only the male Egyptian children are killed meaning that their seed cannot be perpetuated - it kills/stops the race.
(In a conversation with a Cincinnati orthodox Rabbi, Yoseph Kalmanson, 5 Jan 1999, he indicated that tradition, the foundation of verbal laws, is where most of our rules come from. The verbal heritage, according to Kalmanson, is that the mother is the determining factor. He did not deny that the reason for making the woman the determining factor is that, before modern DNA type tests, it was much easier to match children to mothers than to their fathers just because it is clear that is whence the child comes. The Nazis perpetuated this defining method.)
3) Was the Nazi Holocaust G_d's revenge upon the sons of Jacob for failing to keep the covenant and for failing to follow the laws he laid down? Perhaps, the G_d of Jacob has forsaken us because we have not lived up to his expectations? It seems G_d did a lot of talking back in the old days, but nothing has been heard from him in thousands of years. Perhaps the Nazi Holocaust was G_d's message to the seeds of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that they have not lived up to his expectations? If so, what should the survivors of the Holocaust do to appease G_d … be stronger - do unto others before they do unto you?
4) If nothing else, Jesus divided the Hebrews. The questions are: Was this purposeful? If so, who would have benefitted? Surely the Romans who might have thought killing this claimed Son of G-D would be enough to quell any believed uprising against them…or that killing Him before he married and propagated more “Sons” with His seed? It worked inasmuch as there was no revolt nor “sons” of Jesus. But is it not possible that the followers of Muhammad (Muslims), in revenge for Joshua re-claiming the Promised Land from the Canaanites were the instigators? Perhaps, the Muslims perpetuated a ruse that a Muslim (not G-d or Joseph) is the father of the child Mary gave birth to? The theory would be that her son would be the Savior who would resurrect the Canaanites to power. But the plan both failed and succeeded. Failed because some of the Hebrews turned the tables on the Romans and Canaanites by claiming Jesus was the Son of G_d and was their Savior. Succeeded insofar as Jesus divided the Hebrews diminishing their power for the next 2000 years and still counting.
5) Are today’s Palestinians the survivors of ancient Canaan who want “their” land back? Should Jews continue to forsake/ignore/repudiate a direct order from G_d by not killing them? Is the never-ending wars against Israel/Jews - G_d’s punishment for not complying with His order to kill all Canaanites?
6) Throughout the world today Christians and Jews are the epitome of decent, law-abiding, productive citizens. And as such, has raised the moral, ethical and living standards of all peoples. Is raising the standard of living something we should be proud of when it creates pollution and wars over finite resources? Is the world over-populated and dying in its own pollution because we have learned to live longer, waste more and not control our population? Or, is the globe dying because we have become so jaded, immoral and unethical, that we have become another Sodom & Gomorrah?
7) Islamic Muslims have made it clear they intend to destroy all non-Muslims by forcing conversion to their faith or killing those who refuse. Why? Is their G_d using them to fight our G_d’s people? In other words, is this a battle between various G_d’s who are using earth’s inhabitants as the combatants to determine which G_d is superior? Are we humans mere pawns in a battle between gods?
VI 2013 TV BIBLE SERIES NOTES
There have been and will be writings, documentaries and other means of dissemination concerning the Bible. Some are propaganda agendas. A recent (2023) television special, The Bible, purported to be a accurate rendition was found lacking in many ways. The following are my observations of this major production.
1) In the early scenes, G_d promises Abraham his own land for his people. There is no mention of a covenant. In later scenes, "The Covenant" is mentioned, though it lacks comment or dialogue specifying what the quid pro quo is (circumcision). This is one of the most significant factors in Jewish history - of who is a Jew.
2) There is a scene where two angels and G_d himself appears before Abraham – how did the TV producers know what He looks like?
3) The scenes where the angels come to Sodom (Gomorra is never mentioned) and engage in physical battle with the Sodomites is not believable nor in any version of the Bible I've read.
4) There is a scene where Sarah embraces Isaac after learning he was not sacrificed - according to the Bible; Sarah was deceased by this time.
5) There is no mention of Joseph, son of Jacob/Israel being sold by his brothers to Egypt and of his powers (from G_d) to interpret dreams which he does for the Pharaoh and thus saves Egypt and his fellow Jews.
6) The coming of Jesus is portrayed as the bringer of peace. This TV production, The Bible, shows scene after scene of man killing men, women and children prior to the arrival of Jesus. Since his birth/crucifixion, nothing has changed - only the methods of killings.
